- Wear a Name Tag
This should be a no brainer. You want people to know you, like you, and trust you. That really is the whole point of marketing. Well, if you want them to know you, they need to know your name. In my own experience, I cannot tell you the number of times that people would come up to me and ask me real estate questions just because I was wearing a name tag that identified me as a real estate agent. All sorts of people. People, I did not know, but sometimes people I already knew. People I should have let know I was an agent.
My favorite type of name tag is a fold-over pocket badge. It slips over the vest pocket of a suit coat or even a shirt pocket easily. It will not fall off as the case is with the other types. (I find the pin type and magnetic type get caught in the seat belt of my car).
A quick online search will yield many results from the term “real estate agent name tag.” The type pictured here will cost you $14.95 or less.
- Pass out pens
I have worked in several real estate offices where there were many college students in the area. Among other things, college students need apartments to rent and pens to write with. True many use keyboards more than pen and paper, so I order stylus they can use with mobile devices.
Pens can be left by you at ATMs, in restaurants, at service stations, whenever you have to sign a receipt, or just given to people you meet.
When my children were in grade school, there never seemed to be enough pens in my house.
- Don’t forget the business cards
Business cards are one of the least expensive ways to get your name in front of people. For between $10 and $30, you can get 100 business cards printed on quality paper. That’s 3 cents each. Let me say that again, 3 cents. Think of the return on investment that might bring.
I am confident that I lost at least one sale because I did not have a business card with me at the right time. Think about that. I did not have that 3 cent item on me and, because of that, I lost a commission on a $565,000 home sale.
